PE2.0 – color settings – how to turn this thing OFF ?!!

hi,

I`m using Photoshop Elements 2.0.
All the images I open look washed out, just like PE was applying some kind of gamma correction to it.
When I open them f.i.: in Irfan View – they look normal.

I h a v e the color settings set to "n o c o l o r m a n a g e m e n t".

What`s happening?

I`m really pissed by this,

You need to run Adobe Gamma.
It’s in the Control Panel.
