All my attempts to re-color b/w photos results in photos that look obviously colored (washed out color). I just found a colored photo that looks "authentic". Does anyone know what coloring technique was used? Look at the first photo in this link (themepost by eurydice):

The rest of the photos all look washed out, and that’s what my colored photos look like. I didn’t participate in this contest. I’m just using it to make a point.
