I have scanned a tusch drawing as line art, so I have the black drawing on a white background.
Now, I want to make the background transparent and the black drawing red.
Can someone help me (I am a newbie)

I don’t know if this is the best way, but here is what I would do:

1) Make a duplicate layer and hide the original background
2) Use the Magic Wand and click on any white area of your drawing (make
sure "contiguous" is not checked at the top)
3) Hit delete to make the background tranparent
4) Make your foreground color red
5) On the top menu, choose select, then select all
6) Choose the move tool and click somewhere in the black area of your drawing, so all the contents are highlighted
7) On the top menu, choose edit then fill then foreground color

That should do it.
