Does anybody have any suggested techniques for getting rid of this? I have a lot of pictures of my two teenaged daughters and their friends where the shine is so evident. Have tried healing and clone, but both leave an unsatisfactory splotchy look.

The healing brush works wonders for this sort of thing. Maybe try a different brush size, and/or sample from a non-contrast area. You could also try different opacity settings and blend modes.
