Hi,
I use PS6 with an Athlon 2400XP with 512MB Ram.
For the last year or so Photoshop has been running fine. Even working on 150MB+ PSD’s performance was still acceptable.
Last week Photoshop almost ground to a halt. It still starts up in the same period of time but every operation (no matter how small) takes ages to complete.
Here is an example:
Start up Photoshop = 13secs
Open a new image (300px x 300px, 72dpi, RGB, white background) = 7secs Insert a black unconstrained rectangle = 9secs.
In between all of these actions all of the menus and toolbars go blank and Photoshop seems to crash/freeze.
Does anyone have any idea why Photoshop is behaving like this? All other progams on my system are working fine.
I’ve tried a complete un-install the re-installation of Photoshop but the exact same problems are apparent.
The only change to my system I have made is installing Frontpage 2003 (which ran alongside Frontpage 2002). I have since deleted Frontpage 2003 to see if it improved performance… but it didn’t :o(
Any advice would be very much appreciated. I’ve got a couple of jobs coming up and I really can’t live with how PS is working.
Thanks in advance,
Sonars UK
