"Flashy" eyes after red eye removed

Hi
I was forced to do some low level light pics with just the internal flash (canon eos10D)
which yielded the dreaded "red eye".When I removed the red I was left with large flash light
reflections (huge highlights?)which still impart an "alien"or "demonic" quality to the eyes.
Do I have to reconstruct the irises/pupils in PSCS (how?) or is there some other way to recover
more natural looking eyes?

Zoom in on the eyes so they are big enough.

Press "Q" to enter Quick Mask.

Press "B" to select Brush tool.

Paint the pupil/red area with brush at 100%.

Press "Q" to exit Quick Mask.

Press Shift+Ctrl+I to invert the selection.

Go to the Blue Channel and Ctrl+C to copy the selection from just that channel.

Go to the Red Channel and Ctrl+V to paste from the Blue.

Go to the Green Channel and Ctrl+C

Go to the Red Channel and Ctrl+V.

Ctrl+D to deselect.

Google Red Eyes Photoshop
Read the results and come back here when you are done reading it all (in about ten years)

I used a method to get rid of the redeye but the question was about the residual exaggerated (white) highlights

Exactly. If you’d used the right method(s) you wouldn’t be having that problem.

This question comes up regularly – just googling this newsgroup will get you hundreds of hits…

If you are using PS:

using the magic wand with a "feathered" selection of about 6 pixels might help eliminate
the white halo.

Also/or try increasing the tolerance of the magic wand.
