I’ve installed this on two different PC’s, and this thing consistently crashes to the desktop. I would consider myself fairly proficient in computers – I build my own PC’s and am familiar with troubleshooting software. I have all the latest drivers and updates. I have a Nikon D70 that I’m trying to use with the latest Adobe Camera Raw plug-in which supports this camera, and is properly installed.
Computer 1 (custom built)
WinXP
2.6ghz
1gb RAM (50% allocated to Photoshop)
100gb hard drive – 66gb free
Scratch disk is set to a second hard drive.
This computer also has Nikon Capture software installed, and Photoshop 7. BTW, Photoshop 7 never crashes.
Computer 2
Dell with WinXP
2.8ghz
512mb RAM (50% allocated to Photoshop)
100gb hard drive, 20gb free
This computer does NOT have Nikon Capture installed, but also has a trial version of Photoshop Elements on it.
On computer 1, CS will crash after working with a RAW file for awhile. The file browser will also cause CS to crash to desktop when randomly clicking on a folder filled with small resolution .jpegs.
Computer 2 is worse. I cannot even browse a single folder in the file browswer without CS crashing to desktop. I can’t even open a file via file>open without CS crashing to desktop.
What is the problem here? Two completely different PC’s cannot run CS wihtout it crashing to desktop constantly. I understand if there was a problem with one of them, but both? This isn’t convincing me to upgrade to CS, and I might just have to stick with V7 and the Nikon software. But I’d really like to upgrade.
Is this common with trial software? Advice? Thanks.
