How about some more information here?

What OS are you using? What version of Photoshop? More details about your file (like how you’re saving it) may also be useful. How big a hard drive? how much free space?

I have an MAC os X and when using photoshop 5 LE I am also getting disk error 36. This happens either while trying to open a saved file or during working on various files. The error is fatal and photoshop is automatically shut down. Some files I can’t even open and I’m sure they are not very large files. I am not very technical and am finding this problem very hard to deal with – HELP!

disk error 36 is usually pretty accurate. run chkdsk with a surface scan. you may be about to lose the hard drive. back up now.
