I have Adobe Photoshop CS installed on my laptop. When I create a text box, the box outline is so dim, it can barely be seen. Is there any way to improve the contrast or brightness of the box?

Is the layer beneath your text layer a mid-tone? If so it will be difficult to see. Place a temporary layer filled with white beneath your text layer
