Here’s my problem. I have a product photographed on a blue background that is modulated from dark blue at the top, to light blue on the bottom. Only the background is modulated. The product also casts a bit of a shadow on the background. After I select the background, how do I change the color of the existing blue background to another color, keeping the same modulation of tones? I sure would like to find out how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ira

Image->Adjust->Replace Color. You can Shift+click on the image, adding to the range of colour affected, and further adjust this with the "Fuziness" slider.

And I just learned today from a friend that clicking on the colour sample swatch in the lower right calls up a colour picker. Nifty!
