I experienced an odd problem while installing Photoshop 7.0 on my PC. I am using Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 for the operating system.

When I inserted the Photoshop 7.0 CD, the autorun feature started and the white Welcome menu appeared with the gray buttons to install Photoshop. I clicked the button for Photoshop and the Welcome menu disappeared. The Photoshop logo appeared center-screen and the installation wizard progress meter appeared bottom-right. The meter got to 99% and never moved any further. After about 90 sec, both the logo and progress meter disappeared then nothing happened. After about 5 min, the Photoshop installation wizard resumed and I was able to install Photoshop normally.

This has never happened before. Bottom line, Photoshop is working just fine now that it’s installed. But any ideas what happened? I rebooted and the same thing happened. And there are no scratches on the CD.

Thoughts?
