I am having a problem using Smart Focus. I am using a p4 3.2 and 4 g ram on a windows xp professional with 256 video card. When i try to use smart sharpen the temp of my processor goes way up – close to max allowable. And, it takes a very long time to process the image even with more accurate unchecked – any ideas? Thank you

Try adjusting your Preferences (Edit > Preferences > Memory and Image Cache) You might have too much designated for Photoshop and not enough for your Operating System.

What is Smart Focus?

Smart Sharpen is very processor intensive – but it shouldn’t overheat the processor (unless the processor is bad or you’ve overclocked it).

And the processing time in Smart Sharpen will depend a lot on the settings you specify.
