Is there a way to place a 100% black object from another Photoshop File or Illustrator file into a new Photoshop file and have it maintain 100% black instead of converting to percents of cmyk?

Place it into a black and white document instead of CMYK, or use a CMYK profile with maximum black generation.

Or paste in on the black channel (if it’s a CMYK document).

Or use Calculations. Or copy/paste your black object into only the Black channel.

[You may need to fill the selected shape with white in the other three channels to ensure that you have a knock-out black.]
