Leyerd PS-CS Files opening Flattened in PS7

I have a layered file in PS CS that opens as a single flattened layer in PS7.

The CS is running on 10.2.8 G4; the PS7 (in another department) on OS9.x G4. There is text on some of the layers but not all. It is not a huge file.

I have saved with Maximized Backward Compatibility selected and not selected. The file still opens flattened but the composite does not appear when compatibility not selected.

Is this something that can be addressed without an upgrade on their end? I was assured before we upgraded that CS was fully backward compatible…

Is it a 16 bit/channel image?

PS versions prior to CS can’t handle layers in 16 bit/channel images.

I wonder if it could be this old problem:

Which would indicate that’s it’s a problem in 7 and OS 9 not CS.

Ohh – I forgot about that one. It’s been a while since I ran OS 9.
