Everything was great with 10.3.3. Then irrational thoughts seized my brain (such as – Everything is running great, so let’s do an OS upgrade and see if we can screw it up!!)

I upgraded to 10.3.4 (using the 39.5Mb download). Now I get the SBBD often while doing the most ordinary things – like closing files, quitting programs, choosing fonts, editing a path. The darn thing spins for a minute or more.

I’ve tried all the usual things – permissions, Janitor, DiskWarrior.

Anyone else have this problem? I’m experiencing the identical problem on both my machines.

G4/800MHz tower, G4/1.3MHz TiBook, 1.25Gb Ram in each.

Thanks – Rick

When this sort of thing happens.

I run Cocktail.

If things are still goofy.

I run Norton Disk Doctor off a repair partition or the CD.

problems are usually due to bad descripter maps.

I do not defragg.

Try deleting the Apple Finder Preference File followed by a reboot.

It’s actually called by this name if you want to search for it with the finder: com.apple.finder.plist

Let me know if this helps. It’s a hunch I have… and seems to have worked for me in the past.

Now that you have Cocktail, try a good slurp of that instead.
