Rookie request – how do i….?

Hi all,

I am trying to find out how to use ‘guides’ on the page for defining certain image areas to help me crop for the web. I know that the full version has this function just by dragging from either the top or side rulers but I can’t see where or how to activate this function in Elements, or even if it has it.
All help appreciated.

Mark,
Go to View>show grid. Under Edit> Preferences>Units & Rulers you can define the parameters for your purpose.
Under the custom shape tool there is also a line tool which allows one to drag/draw a line, conveniently on a separate layer.

Rather than custom shape tool, I should have referred to shape selection tool. Anyway, there is a line tool among all the shapes.
