Escape Key Malfunction

Pressing the Escape Key no longer allows me to quit the Free Transform Box or a Crop Tool Box. I am forced to use the icon in the Options Bar for these situations. Could this be a problem caused by the upgrade to the latest version (9.0.2)?
Power Mac G5 1.8ghz 3.5GB RAM, OS 10.4.8, Photoshop CS2 version 9.0.2. Problem doesn’t exist for other users of same computer. Replacing CS2 Preferences file no help. Returning Photoshop Keyboard Shortcuts to default settings no help. Using a different keyboard no help.
Any suggestions?

No. It has nothing to do with that.

You have some corruption in your user account. Try trashing or re-setting your Photoshop’s preferences:

If that doesn’t fix it, an "Archive and Install" of the OS will.
