Unable to initialize scanner

PhotoShop 7.0, Epson Expression 1680 scanner. Cannot access the scanner using any of the TWain Pro drivers at all in any application as user or administrator. It will work with the Epson Scan software though. Tried everything that Epson could throw at me.

Do you have the Photoshop plug-in for your scanner? Unless you have the plug-in, you can’t access it from the Import menu.

I use an Epson V750, and there is a SilverFast plug-in that comes with it so I can use Import from inside Photoshop.

Do I have to use the SilverFast plug-in? I have not reinstalled that as of yet. I was trying to get the Twain Pro to function before I moved onto that one.

When Epson threw everything at you, did they mention un-installing and re-installing the scanner software?
