I am trying to use vanishing point to create a 3D effect on a snapshot of a web page in a browser window – just like this…

My poor attempt can be seen here…

As you can see the horizontal lines of the image are terribly jagged and not smooth at all. I have also tried this using the 3D effect in Illustrator but the same thing is happening.

How did this guy in the link above do it with a smooth look?

Try using Transform instead of Vanishing point.
Also, in prefs set image interpolation to Bicubic Smoother.. See how that works out.
Also, part of the problem is not doubt that you are working with and actual web page. The resolution is just too low. Create a high-resolution simulation of the webpage, then it will look smooth. If you need to, then down size the image for web use.
