I am brand new to Photoshop Elements but it looks like a great program for what I need.

I want to customize the output from the Create Web Gallery function. I found the templates in adobe>presets>WebContactSheet>(style name) but I am trying to find out where the creation process is controled.

I want to create many galleries in a common folder each with their own subfolder and that part works fine. The problem comes in when you want to delete one on my Linux server, since they are in several directories I have to go to each directory in the tree and delete all the files before I can delete the directory. This is cumbersome.

What I would like to do is have PE create one folder and put all the files in it which would simplify the process. I do understand that I would have to prefix something to the thumbnails names to have them different from the images but that would be simple.

I am open to any ideas ???

Thanks

While elements is a great graphic program and probably the best bang for your buck I am not sure it can do what you want. The main purpose of the web developing tool is to assist the casual user. I maintain the challenge sites for this group and I use a little program, PhotoThumb that is probably what you should look at. For what you want it is a quantum leap faster than Elements and extremely customizable. You can download a trial version at http://photothumb.com/ if you like it is very inexpensive. If you like it and don’t want to pay it only disables a few features.

Thanks Grant,

I am sure as a photographer you are exactly correct but I am dealing with computer illiterates and need simplicity in as few programs as possible.

Actually I am quite happy with the speed and everything else about the PE Create Web Gallery feature except the file structure. If I could fix that I would be finished.

In fact if it didn’t run on a Linux web server the problem would not exist.

I’m a big fan of Arles Image Web Page Creator:

http://www.digitaldutch.com/

It comes with a number of predefined templates, has a number of configuration options, and you can write custom templates for it if you know HTML. I think it would meet your needs in that you could have it save all images to one folder, all thumbnails to another folder (or the same folder as the images), and the pages for each gallery could go in their own folder.
