I have a Canon EOS 10D and I use the File viewer utility which came with the camera to view and transfer images to Photoshop Elements.

When I transfer the images they are always much darker in elements than they where in the file viewer. As a test I also transferred the same images to CorelΒ’s Photo Paint 12 and they looked identical to the image in the viewer. I have gone through all the options that I could find in PS elements but have been unable to resolve this problem.

Any ideas?

If you haven’t used adobe gamma to calibrate your monitor you might try that. If you are on a windows platform you can usually find it in the control panel. hth

The thing is that it comes across perfectly in Corel Photo Shop. That would indicate to me, that is has something to do with elements.

If you calibrate your monitor Elements will show your images correctly.

Patrick,
Check this thread:

The fact is, Photoshop and Elements , always display the image "adjusted" by the monitor profile ( created by Adobe Gamma or another utility ) . A bad or inaccurate profile equals an inaccurately displayed file. Ian Lyons Image Flow < http://www.btinternet.com/~ian.lyons/ps7-colour/ps7_color.gi f>

is a simple flow chart showing the color managed system .
