Can’t use filter gallery

I’m not sure why, but I am unable to use the filter gallery on some pics of mine. They are JPEG. This that the problem? I can use the filter gallery on TIFFs, but doesn’t seem to work with any JPEG pics I have.

What is the mode and bit depth of the JPGs?

Sorry, took me a while to figure out how to find this.
The bit depth is 24, same as screen captures I’ve been using that allow me to use the filter gallery.
Not sure about the mode.

The menu Image > Mode shows the mode and Bits/Channel.
