I just want to add text to some photos. I have Elements 6.

Can someone give me a simple step by step guide as to how to do this? Please.
I bought Dummies for Photoshop Elements 6 but it is over my head.

you have an image already opened, right?

1 make a layer for your text (just in case you want to make a change later)

from the top menu, choose Layer … new … layer
a pop-up box will appear, just click ok

2 choose the text tool

on the far left side, about 5 or 6 icons down is one that looks like a capital letter T
click it
you will get a "text insert" cursor

3 adjust the font, size and color to whatever you wish using the drop-down menu for the text tool.

4 when you have things set up the way you wish, put the text cursor in the picture, click once, and start typing.

you are on your own from here

Create a new layer. (Layer/New Layer)
On the right, you’ll see the layers. Make sure your new layer is the one on top. You can change the order of the layers by clicking and dragging them up or down the layer list.
Create a text box using the Text (T) tool and enter your text. Click on the arrow at the top of the toolbar to move the text box where you want it. You work with layers one at a time. So, with the text layer, you can move the text around, etc. If you select a different layer, you’ll have to re-select the layer with the text to make any changes.
Once finished, flatten the layers, or click SAVE AS and save as a jpg or tiff or whatever file format you want.

Hope this helps.
