How to get Info palette to display position of a selected LAYER, not the cursor?

I’m using PS Elements 2 & am a rank newbie.

I don’t understand the purpose of the Info palette. All it seems to display is the pixel position of the cursor.

I want it to show the position of the selected LAYER. So that, when you MOVE the layer, you know where IT is in real time.

Instead, the palette simply tracks your cursor WHILE it drags an object–an utterly trivial and useless datum. Your cursor can be ANYWHERE on the object.

Don’t you need to know that the UL corner of a selected layer is at, say, <10, 10> and see THAT number change as you move it?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks much.
