Did you run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool? If not, do so.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/McAfee-Consu mer-Product-Removal-Tool.shtml I also suggest you replace Symantec/Norton with the free AVG
http://free.grisoft.com/ or Avast
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Disabling Symantec/Norton is not enough. You need to completely uninstall it. If it doesn’t solve the problem, get rid of it anyway. Symantec/Norton is known to cause many problems which don’t always appear immediately. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool.

I used to have McAfee and then uninstalled it and switched to Symantec because my ISP provided it free, with updates. Occasionally my computer crashes while using PSE or many other non-photo programs, and and error report from Microsoft indicates that McAfee is causing the problem. I’ve uninstalled it and can’t find any remaining McAfee programs when I go to Add/Remove programs.

After using PSE 3 for years with no hangups, it suddenly won’t launch. I get a message saying "Application failed to launch correctly."
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 3 twice and it’s still the same.
My operating system is XP Home.
Any ideas, please?
