I tend to use DNG just because it loads faster and bridge can store all it’s metadata internally (no side car files). I can also do the renaming on creating the DNG files (DNG converter has a lot of options for this).

For all the images that don’t require Photoshop you can export a Jpg directly in ACR as you work (save as at the bottom of the dialog) and the rest from photoshop as normal. Otherwise I couldn’t see it making a huge difference to your workflow.

BTW I usually do the DNG conversion directly off the card rather than copying first. This is no more dangerous than copying first then do the conversion but is a little more time efficent. Once I’m satisfied that all the images came across ok and have been backed up elsewhere then I’ll delete the card.
