Check your channels. If you have an additional channel other than RGB or red, green, blue you may need to delete it before saving. I’m not sure this is your problem but check it out to be sure.

Q,

Thought you were on to something since I always have some extra channels as a result of ‘save selection’. But I just re-opened an image, saved it under a different name, and executed the action. Nope, it’s there again. 🙁

Are you trying to write over the original file?

Are you trying to write over the original file?

No I’m not. But when I go to save a file as jpeg from psd or neff, in the Save as dialog box, in the Save Options box, the checkbox As a Copy is checked! It is also grayed out so that it can not be unchecked. Is there an option somewhere which can uncheck that checkbox? I never had this problem in CS2.

That happens when you’re trying to save to a file format that doesn’t support what you have in your file; like layers or transparency in a jpeg.

Resolve those issues and this one will go away.
