Apply Image Command?

I’m using Photoshop CS3. I scanned a page from
a book, and while trying to get the page to look
better and I accidentally hit the Apply Image
command and, wow, the image looks great. I thought
Apply Image was suppose to blend photos. Does this
command do something else?

I have used the apply image command to work with individual channels to create masks to cut out complicated objects like trees or long wispy hair. That is the only thing I have ever used it for but I will try playing around with it since you had a "happy mistake". 🙂

It applies the image to itself with a different blending mode (multiply usually the default)
It’s a bit like copying the background layer, applying a different blend mode, and then flattening the result, all in one operation.
