problem with Nikon scanner 5000

Often when I close the scan window after multiple scans. CS3 also closes so I am using Nikon Scan more instead, Is this typical.
Then I was doing just one slide, but with multiple automatic scans, CS3 had a problem and closed before it was done.

D Rob,

Just a thought – how are you accessing your scanner? Are you first launching PS, and then using Import>Nikon [however it’s configured], or are you launching from some other source? I’ve seen a lot of "capture" programs, that will launch the app (PS, Premiere, etc.) and then shut them down, when it is done with its thing. Usually, there is an option to NOT shut down any application.

My older Nikon scanner (much older) plays nicely with PS, but I always go the Import route. My HP all-in-one launches PS, but is not quite so nice. I have taken to having PS running, BEFORE I do any scanning on it.
