Hi,

I tried a search, no luck.

PS 6 WinXP, I have several 8-bit indexed color rasters that I want to convert to b&w. That is, I want all the colored pixels to be black.

I know I can use the magic wand selection tool to mask the color and pour in a black fill but is there any quicker way of just saving the file as 1-bit, for example?

I tried saving as greyscale and then converting to bitmap, but the images in question have fairly light color and so not every colored pixel is converted to black, some are converted to white.

Thoughts?

Try a Threshold adjustment layer, adjust until all color is converted to black.

Then convert to greyscale or bitmap.

Thanks!! That works fine.

Although I wish there were a "Save as B&W" option. <g>

There kind of is with the convert to bitmap mode. Problem is, it doesnt have the threshold control – which would be nice I guess if you have to do that sort of thing on a regular basis.
