Hi all, just about to make the leap to Photoshop and have pre-ordered Photoshop CS from amazon.co.uk.

I have a really dumb question – given that I am a new user and have paid for a new licence I am assumming I am going to get a boxed verison with CDs and a full manual? Is this correct?

The trend recently seems to be going to download only (which I can understand to be honest) but I’m old fashoined and like a proper printed manual etc! So given the quantity of cash I am about to part with I thought I’d ask the question.

Many thanks and regards to all.

You’ll get the full program on CD’s but Adobe no longer includes the manual. There of course PDF files on the CD that virtually replace the manual and of course there is the excellent help files. You can order a manual if you wish from Adobe or use a third party manual.

I recently attended an Adobe Creative Suites presentation and the folks from Adobe said they went this route because so many people tell them they never have even opened the manuals, preferring instead to use the PDF’s and Help Files.

Hi Dave, thanks for the info.

A little dissapointing – but still – what do you expect for 550 UKP these days! 🙂 A shame – I (being a bit of a sad act I suppose) like to read them on the loo/in the bath/in bed etc.

Well, hopefully it’ll be a good online manual. I have been slightly converted to online manuals since Newtek issued an online version of the Lightwave 7.5 manual in HTML with a good search engine. It does work well and is faster for quick reference – but I suspect I may not hold this view if I wasn’t fortunate enough to have a dual monitor set up!

Well never mind – just my luck – finally save the cash to buy Photoshop (I’m not a proffessional) and they drop the manual!!

Regards to all.
