We recently upgraded a user to a new machine with Windows 2000. We installed Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on the machine as was installed on the User’s other machine, but now when she opens Photoshop, she receives the following error message:

You currently have Adobe Photoshop’s primary Scratch and Windows’ primary paging file on the same volume, which can result in reduced performance. It is recommended that you set Adobe Photoshop’s primary Scratch volume to be on a different volume, preferably on a different physical drive.

I followed the instructions as outlined under the Support section on the Adobe website, however it does not resolve the issue. The only choice I have for the primary Scratch is C:\ or Startup. We do not feel we should have to partition our hard drive in order to use Adobe Photoshop. Does anyone have any suggestions?

She doesn’t receive an error, it is a statement of fact. As for suggestions, I seem to remember a don’t show this message again check box. Since you only have one harddrive / partition, check it.

That message does not have a checkbox, because it only comes up the first time you launch Photoshop.

Again: it means what it says, and it is not an error.

Hmm, I guess that’s why it goes away. 🙂
