Why is my text italicized (PS7)?

For some reason, every time I use the text tool in Photoshop 7, it uses italicized text, even though I don’t have the italicized option selected — it’s almost as if the text has been transformed (skewed) to lean to the right, but I don’t know how it got that way. I skew it back to normal, but it shows up as backward-slanted text. How can I reset my text to be normal again?

uncheck faux-italics in the character palette.

What if it’s already unchecked?

Character Palette—»top right flyout menu—reset character.

Or, select Type Tool. Go to the far left "T" icon on the Options Bar. Click once to drop Tools Preset Menu. Again, in this Presets menu, top right, there’s another flyout menu. Open it, slide down and click on "Reset Tool".

If that doesn’t work, Reset your Photoshop preferences.

Next to the font name in the options bar, do you have Italic chosen? Some fonts will have the option and that might be the problem. Also, check the warp text option and make sure that is set to none. Sometimes I will be playing around with that and forget that I have it on and it will give a skew to my text.
