slowing down

I have a fast windows computer with plenty of ram, etc. but recently Photoshop is starting to slow down especially in the area of converting a file to TIFF, I have kept up with defraggin the drive, doing general cleanup etc. I have had 7 loaded for quite some time and no problems, this just started for no apparent reason,and it does this even on small files any suggestions?
