Image’s not appearing in PS7

Im having difficulty with image being placed in "My Pictures" folder appearing in the "Open" screen in Photoshop. They appear in the folder it self and I can double click on them, then they open in photoshop, but cant get them to open through Photoshop. So what do I do?

So, you do File/Open and then what happens?
