I have calibrated my monitor with Adobe Gamma. It created a profile which is now installed as a default monitor profile. The problem is Photoshop 7.01 doesn’t see this profile: when I look at Color Settings -> RGB Working Space list it shows "Monitor Profile – sRGB".
A shortcut to Gamma Loader is in the StartUp folder.
I run Windows 98 SE with Nvidia TNT2 M64 2xAGP card.
I saw messages about Nvidia and WinXP problem, but it’s difficult to apply to Win98 situation. Any help? Thanks,
Sergey Stein

Sergey,

That’s because you didn’t change the text in the Description box when you created your monitor profile – the info you see is the Description info and not the ICC filename

Sergey,

For whatever it is worth, I suggest you choose a color space in your Color Settings preferences that is one of the standard spaces, such as sRGB if most of your work is web-oriented or Adobe RGB if more print-oriented. Then, leave Adobe Gamma to load your monitor’s color profile. That way, images you edit will have a standard color space embedded into their file headers while Adobe Gamma will still ensure that Photoshop transforms the colors in the image for proper viewing on your monitor in as near-accurate a rendition as possible.

I know your post wasn’t about this, but since you were looking for your Adobe Gamma calibrated profile to appear in the Color Settings list, I thought perhaps you were looking to set it as your default color space.

Regards,

Daryl

Thank you, Daryl! Yes, I work in Adobe RGB or sRGB, depending on what I get from digital camera. I was using Color Settings just to check if Gamma loaded the correct monitor profile. After my Spyder crashed recently I feel kind of insecure with what I see :). I appreciate your concern!

Len, thanks for your help, it was as helpful as it usually is! Loader’s working and I’m back on track.

Guys, I quietly enjoy your company for more than a year. You need somebody to wash your dishes or take mother in law to a theater – you let me know 🙂

Sergey,

Pleased to hear you have it sorted – Fortunately we have a dish-washer! <g>
