I am trying to replace an image in a web template with a new image,

Example : <http://www.thespanofamily.com/images/top01.jpg>

The blue area in photoshop is transparent, how do i make that decending curve to make it look right?

Dan,

The blue area in photoshop is transparent.

How so? If we are seeing a blue curve it is not transparent. Are you saying that if you turn off the layer with the blue curve that the image is missing the part where the curve would be?

What exactly are you looking at (Layers, Masks, Layer Styles, etc..)?

how do i make that decending curve to make it look right?

You shouldn’t need to if the blue curve is on another layer that is above the layer the image is on.

The blue curve is part of another layer… but when i try to put my picture in, its square instead of square with the curve on the bottom…

You can CTRL-Click the layer you are replacing and use the selection to mask or just delete the unwanted areas in your new image.

Dan,

You can use the ellipse shape tool if you don’t like using the pen tool.

If you aren’t comfortable with vector tools you can also use the elliptical marquee tool. Although it is always best to use vector when possible.
