Filling Text with Background Image

Trying to fill my text layer with backgroud image and having difficulty. My old photoshop4 refernece material tells me to paste with lock transparecy ON, but in photoshopCS this isn’t working for me. ( Lock transparency is ghosted in my text layer ? )
Could anyone provide me the trick. Tia.

Place the image layer just above the text layer, then on the layer palette, alt/option click the line between the two layers to "group with next". Your text is now filled with the image, and you can move both around to your heart’s content.
