Folks, just got an Epson C84 printer. Great images for the price. But I’m trying to print exact sizes and the printer is enlarging everything slightly.

I’m trying to print a custom DVD Insert, 10.7 x 7.2" and it’s expanding it to 11 x 7.4"./ That’s more than 1/4". There is a setting for enlarging/reducing, but it’s turned off.

So, is there any way to calibrate print size on a printer?

Larry,
It shouldn’t be necessary, something’s wrong. Most Epsons tend to default to about a 7.7 x 10.2 print if left alone. Open Print With Preview turn off Center Image and make sure Scale to Fit Media is not selected… I’m not familiar with your particular driver but there should be an option in the its software to extend the printing on the page. It’s called Maximum on mine. Select that and make sure center image is not selected. Also make sure Reduce/Enlarge is not selected in the driver. Go back to the Print With Preview menu, use your mouse to move the image to the top of the page.

I recommend making a rectangular line drawing of the size you want to print out on plain paper until you sort it out. Try printing that and let us know how it turns out. ~Doc

I have the same printer and do not have any problems like you are discussion. I use Acoustic CD Label Maker and works exactly right when I have lines selected for printing. Have used a couple of other programs that I did have some problems with. Also, have you selected the proper labeling description in your program. Acoustic does not have multiple selections so it is impossible to select the wrong one.

Ok, this is very strange. The problem occurs when I turn on "borderless printing".

I made a sample 3"x3" image, printed with borderless printing turned off, and it was exactly 3"x3".

I turned borderless printing ON (choosing heavyweight paper), and the image printed at about 3 1/16" x 3 1/16". Looks like it’s a driver issue.

Borderless printing, for most printers, increases the image size slightly to ensure it exceeds the paper size. In the driver for my printer, Canon i950, you can adjust the size of the increase or turn it off.

Bummer, my driver doesn’t allow that. The enlarge/reduce setting is grayed out when borderless printing is turned on.

I guess I’ll have to buy some legal paper to do what I want to do.
