I have dragged an object into a new layer in a psd. When I go to transform the object – I am not able to do so. The transform and free transform are greyed out. Ctr-T is not working either. Do you know what the reason for this is or what I am doing wrong?

You did select the object?

I have selected the layer and it is the only object on the layer. I can not get the transform to work on any of the layers

Mmm, 8bit or 16bit per channel? What else is possible… What do you get if you try it anyway… an error msg? or a "prohibited" sign in stead of the transform handles?

9 bit gray scale

I do not get anything – it is greyed out. I cannot use the Ctrl-T shortcut either.

Have you inadvertently locked the new layer that
you want to transform. That will do it.

You sure you’re in greyscale mode and not index?

Stephen, is your layers palette active? Maybe you have clicked on the channels or paths layers and they are top-most.

Thanks, I figured it out. I had an active work path. I deleted the path and now I am able to transform again

dunno if its the same on the pc, but on the mac, transform doesnt work if your on the path tool and there isnt a path to deform…dunno why it doesnt decide to transform an active selection, but it wont.
