Hi, I am new to Photoshop & would like to learn how to enlarge a picture without distortion and blurring. Can anyone help me?

When you add pixels through interpolation, maintain the aspect ratio. This will eliminate distortion.

Blurring may occur when you set the image size larger but maintain the pixel sizes constant. Eventually, the image will be so big that the number of pixels per inch is too small. The only recourse for such an event is to increase the number of pixels through interpolation.

A good way is through the bicubic interpolation that PS provides if you don’t need to add many pixels about 20% more). There are lots of other for the usual case where you need to add a large number of pixels. Each one has its advocates and detractors…

The magic filter with Merlin checked should help. 🙂

Just kidding.

If it is at all possible rescan at a higher resolution.
Then resize the image with the check removed from resample. Beyond that you will get some blurring. If you don’t increase the size much it might be acceptable with a little sharpening.
