SAVE AS… JPEG not available in Photoshop CS

If I scan an image, save it as .PSD (for safekeeping), then want to save it as JPEG, the SAVE AS command does not give me the option to save as Jpg or jpeg. Where am I going wrong?

If I bring in an image in .jpg, then it allows me many formats to save it in as.

What you are doing wrong is using software that you are not able to understand.

Hire someone to teach you or do the project for you.

You’re probably trying to save a 16 bit file. Convert to 8 bit then you will be able to

Thank you so much. Everything is fine in 8-bit. It was too simple I guess for the previous response who simply insulted me. Why?

Thanks again

Your question was something that could have been easily researched by looking in your manual. Since you hadn’t done that much, your question implies that our time is less valuable than the effort required to casually flip through the manual looking for answers. It is disrespectful to ask for soemthing without even trying to help yourself.

The fact that you are now curious why you were insulted implies that you may feel any of us may owe you an answer. That, too, is not a sign of any respect.

You might have looked in the "help" file, in the manual, on the Web, in the Adobe forums – any of a half dozen resources on your own.

That’s why you are drawing abuse.

It was so simple that you should have been able to figure it out, but you could not, because you were even more "simple".

Next time figure it out for yourself.

Why?

Why? Because we like you. We want you to be all that you can be.

Gil,

It has nothing to do with you, believe me.

A lot of us have been in this group for years, and I think there’s a sort of fraternity food fight going on for about a week now of seeing who can be the most insulting to each other, and to unsuspecting people who ask questions.

It’s hard to block the offenders in the usual way because the people doing it are changing their names fairly rapidly, even taking on the names of other members of the group. So it’s a food fight with halloween masks. There are even a couple of Nazi impersonators cruising around some of the other photography and computer groups, so really it’s not so bad here in
a.g.p. 🙂

No way to stop it, really, so my advice is just tough it out and ignore the insults, or come back in a week when hopefully the slugfest is over. Either that, or we all will have quit.

So far everyone seems to be losing. 🙂

Don’t worry about the insulters. They all oughta know by now most questions are somewhere in a manual but still we are human and often find it quicker to ask our peers than to start a quest in the books. That’s how we are, and those who have nothing better to do than to start abusing, namecalling and pointing people to manuals are also a fact of life on usenet. They never understood they don’t have to reply to a question if they deem it beneath them. Luckily they are still a minority.

Probably something with crushed egos and relative anonymity of the net.

There are no stupid questions. And yes, it may be worthwile sometimes to use google/groups to see if a quation has been asked and answered before, but that doen’t make you or your question stupid. Hope you enjoy this group Gil! Pjotr

Good question! Try Kazaalite, or Overnet, or your local Adobe store, maybe you can impersonate an Adobe Manual Inspector!
