Usually one of the three channels would be more suitable for black and white, but how do I use it?

Another way would be to go to Saturation and turn it down to zero …

Another way would be to change the image’s Mode to Lab … and delete the a and b channels …

So on …. last time I looked there were about 5.297 ways to make an RGB image into B&W.
