I scanned and photo using my AGFA SNAPSCAN e26, and choose to EMBED the COlour Profile in the file at saveing time (via FILE DIALOG)

Upon opening the file in PHotoshop I discovered that the Profile that was embeded was MY monitors profile, I.e. WHATEVER profile I set as the DEFAULT WINDOWS profile in WINDOWS DISPLAY PROPERTIES.

If I Set no DEFAULT PRofile then sRGB gets EMBEDDED.

in the SCANNERS HELP->ABOUT menu option, the Profile to be embeded is ALSO displayed.

Can Someone explain WHY my DEFAULT/Monitor profile is being embedded, and not some CUSTOM one specific for my scanner as would sound more sensible….

Also can posters tell me WHAT profile is embeded for THIER scanner’s Scan’s….for comparison reasons..

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 12 scenes

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

– 6000 x 4500 px

Thought #2: You misunderstood the question and selected the wrong profile. If so, this means that there is a bug in the scanner software.

When using NikonScan, the scans have no profile imbedded, which is what I intend. On input to Photoshop, I tell it to use the scanner profile to convert to the working RGB which is
AdobeRGB.

When using Viewscan, I tell it to use the scanner profile to convert to AdobeRGB, which is also what I intend. Vuescan enables me to get to where I want to go with fewer steps.

I would say that it depends on the settings in your scanner profile and the people who wrote it are in the best position to answer that question.

That really depends on your scanner and it’s accompanying software. The for example, one scanner I use at work will automatically convert from the scanner profile to a profile of my choice, while another (older one) doesn’t embed any profiles and so we have to assign the scanner profile we created to the image and then convert it to our working RGB space, while a third one embeds its profile automatically.
