Anyone sole this or give me some advice.
When I print on Epson 800 with PhotoshopCS on a pc the print is washed out. It is the same on my HP printer too. (I use correct approapriate settings). When I print the same picture on a mac, with the same printer but using elements the print it exactly as it should be. If I used Microsoft Photo Editor on the PC and print though that the print is very good as well. So what is it in Photoshop that is causing the print to appear washed out and the colours not as vibrant?. I have proved its not the printer but photoshop cs itself.
Help please, he cryed .

That’s a weird one. I have the Epson R800 on my Windows XP Pro computer. I printed from CS just fine and still do on CS2.

This is just a guess, but it sounds like Photoshop isn’t finding the right profile or it’s garbaged or something like that. Try reinstalling your profiles.

Of course, you could first try different profiles to see if it acts the same for all of them. If it does, I would suspect the printer driver and reinstall that. However, MS Photo Editor uses that driver too…

Good luck,

If someone says "I’m using the appropriate settings" without telling what the ‘appropriate settings’ are, I usually think "Bingo! That’s where it goes wrong…".

Photoshop uses Colour Management. If you have not gone through the process of setting up Colour Management and calibrating your Monitor, PS will be using one of its default settings and that will not be correct for your Monitor or Printer.

The Mac has probably been set up correctly, as Mac users are a bit more inclined to be knowledgeable about Photoshop and Colour Management. They have had it longer than Windows.

Gee Roy, that’s a generalization that I find offensive as a PC user.

How dare you say that I’m less knowledgeable about colour management and photoshop than a Mac user, just because they are Mac users. I’d put my colour management / colour correction skills up against anyone anytime.

You included Roy G 😛

I would say that I am fairly well up on Colour Management, and I do not own a Mac, but I have used one. I don’t consider them to be better or worse than PCs, just different. But that does not stop me from slagging off Mac owners, even if don’t really mean it.

It was a wide generalisation, but I would estimate that the percentage of Mac users, who are Graphics / Photo people will be higher than the percentage among PC users. Therefore there is a better chance that a Mac will have been set up for CM.

Completely wrong and lame assumption.
Old schoolers that use macs only are just that, old schoolers. Any graphic/publication house worth it’s salt had better have both because, albeit slowly,
pc’s are taking over. They are just too versatile over macs, thanks to bill gates (except the virus part).
That said is the reason any new blood talent in photo manipulation
i.e.;color correction will be a pc user.

Great! Just what we need! Another senseless Mac vs PC debate.

It must interest you if you bothered to read it.
And I’m not arguing, just stating fact.

If you had properly editted the title to show what this thread is now all about, I wouldn’t have read it.
