Hello all, I’m pulling at what little hair I have with contact sheet II. I’ve numbered the files I want on the contact sheet, but the darn thing goes out of numerical order. It goes from picture 1 to 11 the 12 all the way to 19, then 2, then 20 and so on. I assume it’s treating 11 as 1.1, anyone know how I can keep the pics in numerical order?

Thanks.

use 01 instead of 1 or if you will have more than 100 pics, use 001

Hi.

It’s not just Photoshop which treats numbers like that, any computer program will do likewise. Remember they are not clever, more like stupid but very fast with it.

Your sequence needs to be 01 to 09, then on up to 99, or 001 to 099 then on up to 999.

Fill with leading 0’s. 001, 002, 098, etc. Allow enough 0’s to meet the number of files.
And no, it’s not treating 11 as 1.1, computers arrange by column.

Thank you for your replies, it’s long winded putting the zeros in front of the numbers, but it does work.

Thanks again.

you might try downloading a file renaming program
you can choose the common part of the filename, a separator, the unique identifier, how many digits

it comes with PS no need to dl anything
in automate batch you can rename a group of files with qualifiers (.filename, a separator,
the unique identifier, how many digits, extension etc)
