I have Photoshop 7.0 and for some reason I can’t just get a regular line to display when I use my line tool. Every time I try to make a line there is a giant arrow attached to the end of the line pointing out which direction it is going in. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

With line tool active, click the down-pointing arrowhead in the middle of the options bar. Arrowhead options will appear in a drop-down menu. Make sure the "start" and "end" boxes are unchecked if you do not want an arrowhead on either end of the line.

And if anyone else reading this can point (sorry) me in the right direction of the scaling / appearance of the arrowheads I’d be much obliged. I get skinny lines with fat arrowheads, inverse arrowheads, long skinny ones, and the end is listless…. never the one I want, which is a sort of architectural one. The scooped ends. Probably impossible to achieve with such limited (and annoying) "percentages."

Mike,

It is just a percentage of the line weight. Use concavity to set the length of the fins. By using percentages the arrows will look the same no matter what the line weight is.

I’m on PS 6 Can’t see a concavity dialogue….

Or I must be a plug-in short of a full programme !!!!!

Mike,

Sorry I don’t have 6.0 on this system. Here is a Screen Shot <http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/shapes6/arrowhead.gif> I found. I know it is available in 7.0 and CS.

Mike,

I couldn’t make mine disable the concavity setting, but I am on my way out. Perhaps you should try resetting the preferences per the FAQ.

It will remember the last used setting.
