I want to make a wallpaper and i got the image i want but its already in a picture. I got everything to be black but the image i want to (cut) but i cant seem to grab the image with anything to make it its own file without the background. What i want to accomplish is getting this image by itself…. and paste it over another background i have. essentially making the wallpaper with the background i have already with the image i want on it.

i can use the color grabbing tool to grab all of the black spots but i cannot cut them out or anything. And i cannot use the magnetic tool to get the image fully and copy it. Im out of ideas and i know im not really good at this, but can some1 please help me by posting it or emailing me at Thanks to any1 with some advice in advance.

I got everything to be black but the image i want to (cut)

Use the magic wand to select the ‘black’ background.

Hit Ctrl+Shift+I to invert the selection.

Hit Ctrl+J to create a new layer based on the selection.

You can now drag the image minus its background into your new document.

Chris.

PS: for a more accurate cut-out with edge blending try the Extract Tool. (in the filters menu)
