I’ve got the program installed fine but when I try to do anything, the menu choices are greyed out. About all I can do is open files and close them. No filters, nothing in the image menu, edit menu, etc – all the choices are greyed out. Plus, after a few seconds my cursor locks into the move tool and I can’t access any other functions.

HD space is getting tight – could that cause the inaccessible menus – or could it be something else? No menu problems with CS but I did have the locking cursor issue.

Inaccessible menu items are usually caused by the Image Mode not being compatible for the operation you’re attempting to choose. If your images are being taken from a digital camera, and are in 16-bit mode, then that may be the problem, at least with the Filter menu where many filters aren’t selectable. Similarly if you are in Indexed color mode, even fewer menu choices are available, such as no Layer commands. The broadest compatibility exists for 8-bit color depth images in RGB or Grayscale mode.

Replacing the 8 year old video card is probably a good idea….

Could be – since this is corporate, that can be a problem for someone not in the graphics department – even though I do a lot of graphics in web development. I’ve gone back to CS until I can get a better machine.
