All: Need advise with lettering to fit the perspective of a barrel. In reference to a tutorial "Wrapping Labels Around Curves" in How to Cheat in Photoshop, page 241, step 6. I’m trying to use PS6 features such as vertical shear to distort lettering at the beginning and end of a word. Is there a tutorial out there that describes how to wrap text around a "cylinder"? Windows XP, P4 Dell, 768Mb of RAM. Thanks in advance. Ron, San Jose, CA

One way to do it prior to the arrival of Photoshop CS 2 was with a displacement map.

There are tutorials at

<http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/cb/displace.html>

They may help.

If you don’t need a vertical bend as well, then my Cylinder Distort plugin <http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/#cylinderdistort_ps> can do the horizontal distortion that you would see in front elevation.

This kind of operation is very easy to do in Illustrator CS and CS2.
